The literal translation of Ryujin Jakka is "Flowing Blade-like Flame". Ryujin Jakka is known for its immense destructive power, being a technique that draws on raw aetherial reserves from the user to transform one's own body into a weapon of controlled and devastating power. However, this technique utilizes all fourteen chakras and harnesses all the aetheric potential from the practitioner. By transcending mortal attachments and untethering one's mental and physical limitations, for a temporary time the user may channel all of their potential without restriction. However, despite the impressive and staggering potential for this skill to exhibit; it cannot be used freely or without reason. It is what one might call a technique that comes with a heavy toll. Turning the user's body into a living and breathing weapon that relies entirely on the skill and aetheric resources of the individual, this technique is a last resort that siphons a massive amount of aetheric stamina from the user. Even with the swift but gradual detriment in expending all of one's energy, this ability is what some might call a "double-edged sword". Invoking tremendous prowess for a momentary time but in doing so, the body suffers greatly. The damage sustained is often equal to the destructive power obtained and sequentially used. Dependent on circumstances, using this technique, let alone, over extending the use of this technique can be extremely dangerous not only to that which it has been chosen to be directed to but also to its practitioner. In some scenarios, posing risks that may even provoke fatal or near fatal results for the practitioner. It is a skill used to achieve the desired outcome even at the cost of one's own life. This technique is given it's name because the aether surrounding the practitioner during its utilization becomes visible, burning bright and nearly tangible similar to scorching flames that sear the flesh from it's host and delivers catastrophic results to both the user and its victim. It is often advised to not be utilized unless one is prepared to risk death.Appearance

Summary: Charity & Enlightenment
Víðarr Hróðvitnir began as a simple man born to be a construct of war and conquest. Whilst he lived to fulfill his birthright as a berserker of Halone. Víðarr Hróðvitnir's life was not defined merely by his barbaric beginnings or cultural indifferences. What makes Víðarr Hróðvitnir who he has become is the variety of challenges that influenced his need to explore natural curiosities and expand on himself out of the necessities for survival and self-fulfillment. He was once a savage of conquest, a slave of corrupted capitalisms, a barbarian of ruthless incursions, an soldier of war, an achieved monk from rehabilitation, but now he is a man of experience and wholesome life. Having re-established himself from his beginnings and the tribulations of his past, Víðarr Hróðvitnir's search for completion led him to a path of personal enlightment and self gratification through wisdom and adhering to the fundamentals of his personal philosophy. Many may presume that his destiny is now to extend his views onto the remainder of the world and lead the astray into purpose but Víðarr Hróðvitnir chose not to impose his vision onto others but to use his understanding of how he achieved inner-peace and self-enlightenment to give others the opportunity to not follow him but create their own futures. He was unfortunate enough to be a slave but fortunate enough to endure and gain empathy; the same can be said of the many journeys that he has endured. He aspires to use this empathy as a motive to further his charitable causes across the world. Founding an organization known as the White Lotus, he grandfathers the enlistment of non-profitable colleagues that utilize vast resources and networks to bring aid to the impoverished, enslaved, the endangered, and those who are in need or refuge. This secret organization remains a quiet beckon for the hearts of the world's undermined or viewed minority.Relationship (Comradery):
Summary: Loyalty & Honesty
Friendship was something that Víðarr Hróðvitnir had only truly experienced in few times of his life. After the losses of his last remaining comrades, he never imagined that he would encounter a friend ever again. He was no only wrong for this youthful presumption but he learned that it was not only possible but could happen again through patience, discipline, and willingness to self improve. He not only discovered friends once more but those friends would have eventually became inspiring love that would create the qualities he searches for in those who may potentially be his allies. His entirety of living had taught him many lessons and through the hardest times of his life; he realized support where he believed there was none. Víðarr Hróðvitnir views and expects of his friends no differently from the comrades of his homeland, gladiatorial brotherhood, and militant brethren. He is an staunch believer that life is chaotic, unpredictable, and tragic similarly to war. If there was anything that he considered to be a major contribution to his overcoming the many tragedies he endured, it was; loyalty, courage, honesty, humility, patience, commitment, and most importantly, love. Víðarr Hróðvitnir believes that love is given and equally earned. One does not need to have romantic infatuation to love and love is one of the most proving inspirations of mankind.Relationship (Romantic):
Summary: Adventure & Commitment
Víðarr Hróðvitnir suffered the loss of four lovers, three husbands and a wife. He has experienced loss and while his past has its grievances, he has made peace with his history. If nothing else was gained, Víðarr Hróðvitnir earned an appreciation for the fickle and temporary presence of time. Every moment lived is worth being grateful and relishing. Tomorrow is not promised and love is not garaunteed to endure tomorrow or the present day. Víðarr Hróðvitnir expects nothing less than someone who will join him in the reality of experiencing every joy, despair, pleasure, and anguish, as a union and not as individuals. Víðarr Hróðvitnir also understands that love is not always limited to one person, just as one may have many members of a family; one may discover a realm of inclusiveness that allows them to experience the freedom of love in multitude. Víðarr Hróðvitnir considers it a rare grace to be fortunate to find romantic love, not once, but twice and more if fate conceives it. Víðarr Hróðvitnir is not tamed to a singular realm of the world and like his history that has been divided across regions; Víðarr Hróðvitnir is a liberated spirit of adventure that explores the unknowns, revisits knowns, and savors the memories of each venture. Perhaps one day he will find a desire to settle into a family and currently he certainly desires to have one. Despite having raised sons of his own, he yearns to recreate a home once again with a lover, and eventually more offspring to pass on his wisdoms and happiness. Víðarr Hróðvitnir has no vision of the perfect lover, for he believes no one is perfect; not even himself. Thus, he expects challenges and remains optimistic to embrace them with care, compassion, and understanding intact.Favorite Locations:

How long you've wandered, burned bright as a star.I have awaited you patiently all this time.
Past every fate - now sing with me once more, share of your life.
Far greater than memory, its loss and love words cannot hold.
Boundless, the tale overflows and carries your light out to sea.Remember the rain, near and far beloved.
Each drop a blessing from heavens abovе.
And how, as time flowed on, those watеrs became one.
Streams, rivers and lakes, reaching for the horizon and far beyond.
They carry onward, however changed with each brief reflection.
By setting sun, by storm's wake, til welcomed home to gentle sea.Sinking deeper and deeper in calm embrace.
Loving tide, sweep in and bear you down.
Should you meet a soul rising surface-ways.
With your unbeating heart, wish them well.Deep, dark, far away, I have heard your voice, weighed your every choice.
Now our hands join round the meaning you sought.
I'll catch your tears, quench your fears with joy, til you near the shore.
Where in time, all shall as hope be reborn.
Hush, love, close your eyes, and in sleep abide.
As sun's distant light echoes down to dreams, below.

Biography - The Wolf's Journey
Vǫluspá
Several generations prior to this day, poems were written for those who claimed to be gifted by birthright. A story told of a child born of honorable glory. To raise the banners of their family's name and to forever mark their history within Etheirys as a legacy worthy of the bloodline they inherit. The origins of such a tale is unknown and plausibly considered to be rumors amongst the people the giants. This prophecy as it were called was named Vǫluspá, "Prophecy of the Seers". These strange and peculiar people, not truly known to the world; were the Völva.

Jötunheimr
A land within lands, found in the reaches of Ilsabard. Jötunheimr is no nomenclature to Eorzean or common folk. It is a reference spoken by the tribalistic natives that thrive alongside the exiled ancestors of the Hrothgar people. Jötunheimr refers to the icy lands of a vast and isolated region of mountainous reserves where the Jötnar are predominantly found inhabiting the wilderness. Jötnar is a word derived from the jargon language created by the Hrothgar families that remained in exile with the ancestors of the first settlement. The first of their Hrothgar people to harvest the land but greatly detached from civilization. A people whom had earned the distinguishment of being called "Giants" for their surprising stature amongst ordinary men and savagery across nearby colonies. This word means, 'The Giant People' and it was with the Jötnar that these families cultivated children and villages outside the world's norm. Eventually these families would breed into the Jötnar and bastard half-breeds of Jötunn descent would be sired for generations. It was these newly arrived Hrothgar people who would eventually become like the Jötnar, who also encouraged a language to articulate amongst their people. They spoke a tongue they referred to as Norse.

Legacy of the Hróðvitnir
Through seventy-eight generations passing, the family Hróðvitnir remained united with the Jötnar. It was all these years of coexistence that truly allowed these descendants to live in peace with their ancestral counterparts. Though after many years of inter-breeding with the Jötnar, the half-breed lineage gradually inherited more qualities of their distant relatives. It was during the emergence of the seventy-eighth generation that Víðarr Hróðvitnir would be born. His father a member of the Hróðvitnir family and his mother a wholesome Jötunn.
The Hróðvitnir family wasn't merely separate from the world in their practice of breeding with giants but it was also the inheritance of their bloodline that allowed them manage in survival for several generations. Easily, the family could have fallen extinct to a variety of reasons but their key differences from the world salvaged them through resolve alone. Having the capacity to stand near equally with the Jötnar. The oldest member of the family, the first ancestor to be record in the records of the Hróðvitnir was Rɑɣnˌɑr (Ragnarr Hróðvitnir).
Rɑɣnˌɑr carried a special gift or an affliction as some might describe. He was an inheritor of an copious and unusual abundance of Aether and his descendants for every generation after would carry that birthright.
Rɑɣnˌɑr the half-breed of their separate people, the once civilized and the renowned primitives and Brünhild of the Jötnar conceived Víðarr in a marital union. It was this child born of these two lovers that would become the child of prophecy amongst the living Hróðvitnir people. His inheritance and surpassing of his father's Aetheric potential and a peculiar difference in his past relatives, marked him to be revered as a blessing in eyes of his kin.
Víðarr was born with an extremely rare condition known as Gigantism. (Acromegaly - is a rare condition where the body produces too much growth hormone, causing body tissues and bones to grow more quickly.) When brought before the Seers, he was marked as a boy of blessing. He had been an unnaturally large baby for a half-breed and it was seen as a gift of all their generations passed down onto him. Víðarr was their closest pure-bred child and the only half-breed of the family destined to reach the heights of their Jötnar relatives.
Some feared he may have encountered a disease and would grow unproportionate. Yet the Seers believed it was his Aetheric descent that sustained his body through development and allowed him to develop healthily. (As an baby, Víðarr weighed 48lbs and 17 ounces.)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tales of the "Conquering Wolf"Hróðvitnir, the family's name means "The wolf that soars to the moon". Víðarr's first name was given to him by his mother who believed her child would grow to become a conqueror and ruler of her people. Brünhild became infatuated by the idea that her son may truly be blessed as the seers foretold and thus she named him Víðarr "Conquering God".
In completion, Víðarr Hróðvitnir translates from jargon "The Conquering God Wolf that soars to the moon."Whilst Víðarr's mother was proud of her child's conception. Rɑɣnˌɑr was not as enthusiastic as his wife and on several occasions attempted to kill the child when isolated from the mother. It was shortly after that Rɑɣnˌɑr and Brünhild confronted one another about their disagreements on Víðarr's continued life. Rɑɣnˌɑr believed his child was blessed but also thought that his son was a danger to the natural order. Víðarr was fortunate to be one of the few existing people who would ever reach such dangerous capacities as a full-blooded Jötunn, the primitive natives of their long forgotten people. His son would not only be a Jötunn but have amassed such a excessive immensity of Aether that was imperceivable from the child's control that is easily misconstrued as unnatural. In addition of the offspring's impressive size which could threaten the very nature of predatory laws in the wilderness. Víðarr could pose a threat to not only their own survival but others as he was destined to become an alpha predator.Brünhild believed this was all the more reason to praise their child's birth. Their dispute led into violence and Brünhild would flee while being wounded after having barely saved Víðarr from Rɑɣnˌɑr. Rɑɣnˌɑr would never find his escaped wife but Brünhild would die while cradling her baby in her arms.Víðarr would be found a day later, still alive miraculously. Traveling merchants who sold exquisite human merchandise. They acquired the infant half-breed and immediately sold him in the markets of an Garlean city. Víðarr would be taken under the house of a prominent owner of slaves and gladiators known by the name Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus. A nobleman on the rise to authority and power after ascending from the impoverished streets of his home city.Gaius named Víðarr, Panulus Quantulius. Raising the half-breed as a service slave in the quarters of his house's threshold. At the age of seven, Gaius was informed by one of his advising trainers for his gladiator merchandise that young Panulus had the potential and physical form to be a gladiator. Gaius ordered his advisor, Oenomaus to take Panulus under his tutelage and train him properly enough to bring in the coins worth owed from buying the expensive child.Oenomaus did not know why but recognized Panulus's sudden growth to towering over young boys like himself and standing beside adolescent men. He trained Panulus for months to come in how to embrace the psychology and physical discipline of a gladiator. In technique and form, Panulus adapted the craft with inherent ease as if it was given to him by birthright.A month after, Gaius enlisted Panulus into his first contest in the arena where the young boy earned his master ample coin as his victories came immediately with his entrance. After his first grand triumph in the arena, the victorious Panulus was renamed; Gannicus the Shadow of Death inspired by the darkening silhouette Vidarr casted on the enemies he fought during battle. Gaius believed this name would inspire the crowd and bring in greater funding than his house had ever seen.For a short time Gannicus's reign in the arena was nothing but lucrative and Gaius praised of his wealth and the boy's talents. However an overlooked matter that was not known to the nobleman was Gannicus's affliction with peculiar Aetheric potency, an unstable reservoir of energy that manifested itself in unusual ways. After killing his first victim, the beast within the young man awakened. During the first full moon after Gannicus's many triumphant bouts in the arena, the young man's Aether was unpredictable and a hazard to anyone even himself but eventually this Aether presented itself in a inexplicable phenomenon that would transform Gannicus into the image of his father's bloodline, a Hrothgar; inside of Gaius's ludus. If not for the sacrifice of half the stock of slave warriors Gaius acquired, the man's noble house would have been ravaged by an enraged and ravening predator that had suddenly taken the place of his greatest slave asset. His gladiators restrained the Hrothgar and Gaius upsettingly caged the monster until morning.
Overnight he bargained with a demoniac entity whom he knew collected monstrous merchandise to fuel the same business as Gaius himself. This diabolical client collected monsters and pit them in the arena against greater monsters, building a profit from the sponsors of sadistically shady personnel or adventuring mortals. Gaius arranged a deal that for the half-breed Highlander with the atypical talents to conjure Aether in anomalous ways, that he would be aided in rising into power in his native city.The request was ultimately accepted and the deal was made. Gannicus before the full light of sunrise was given to a new Dominus by the name of Typhoeus or Typhon ruled over an cultic house known as Tartarus.
There Gannicus's training would continue and his prestigious Aetheric gift was confirmed by Typhoeus. The Dominus discovered that Gannicus's transition from a man of mixed blood albeit resembling a Highlander was in direct cause of his surplus Aether that had remained untrained or controlled. The Aether would acknowledge whatever state of mind that Gannicus was predominantly subjected to and immerse the gladiator in a variety of ways that was never consistent without Gannicus's focus to guide the outcome. This supported the theory that Gannicus was born with a talent for communing with Aetheric properties and alongside his overabundance of Aether that had remained seemingly out of his control and even occasionally threatening to his life; Gannicus could achieve feats as stupefying as the transformation that Gaius explained. To utilize Aether in the ways exhibited by Gannicus was nothing unusual per say but due to his unrestraint, the Aether responded perilously in unforeseeable ways. Knowing that Gannicus's talent would surpass itself if the potential within him was nurtured, Typhon had his many barons educate Gannicus on the teachings of Aetheric control and the many practices that expanded on utilizing Aether effectively. Allowing the gladiator to practice in refining his gifts and become a warrior in his own right.For three decades, Gannicus remained a slave to Typhoeus and earned the title of "Champion". Visiting arenas across the Etheirys or realm to participate in the games of unethical influence. His victories would earn him the respect of appraisal from his opponents and other great houses. Even having been allowed to participate in a seasonal Great Hunt of the most dangerous opponents worthy of battle, Gannicus would prove to be an exceptional hunter and fighter. Earning the boon of his deity in his earlier years as rumors say; for serving the glorious conquest and the shedding of blood relished within battle, many say that Gannicus's talents only increased in aptitude later in his career encouraging the unconfirmed myth that the Goddess of War, Halone fought alongside him in spirit and vigor.Gannicus was without contest, Typhoeus's greatest investment that proved to be beneficial. However after three decades of consistent victories, the master released his slave for earning his freedom. In spite of this, Gannicus returned of his own free will to still participate in the games for Typhoeus. Whilst now having the freedom to explore more on his own volition, Gannicus maintains a ritualist lifestyle between the arena and his devotion to discovering how to further experience his life.At the age of thirty-four, Gannicus recognized the responsibilities that came with earning his boon from Halone, as he believed the myth of the gods favoring him to be true. Fulfilling his calling to his Goddess of war, Gannicus mustered the lost, untethered, or those in need of aid, to join a religious agenda to spread the grace of Halone throughout Etheirys. For their bravery in battle, would the goddess repay them with a prosperous life. It was in this agenda that Gannicus unwittingly created a settlement of people who looked to him for leadership.
These people continued to expand and became a minor power that would bring siege across the lands to small villages, idle homes, or unprotected havens. If it was not a Kingdom, it became a target for their raids as they attempted to grow in power. This vendetta that Gannicus had not originally desired, eventually returned him home to Jötunheimr where he unknowingly came across his former people and merged his own covenant of warriors with his long lost families.In his return to his people, he'd eventually be forced into the nature of political power amongst the two separate authorities in Jötunheimr. By the determination of his relatives who ruled and himself who was given reigning leadership over his combatants and the militia of their unified people. Asserting his need to protect his paladins of Halone, Gannicus was forced to slay one of his relatives to undermine an inner political operation to exterminate the foreigners who were not native to their homeland and thus take on the responsibility of a people and his own brigade, reluctantly.He'd continue to mentor many soldiers, swordsmen, knights, to raid the nearby land. Eventually after many years of expanding his people into a haven for his relatives and assimilated comrades, he'd marry with a Jötunn named Hlaðgerðr (Lagertha) and a half-breed Jötunn named Athelstan.
Lagertha would give birth to seven of Gannicus's sons. Each were named, Björn Ironside, Vidar The Reaper, Hvitserk Mountainside, Sigurd Shadow Wolf, Ivarr The Boneless, Halfdan Braveheart, Thorbjørn Thunderbird. After giving birth to his children, Hlaðgerðr later died in battle protecting their settlement from raiders that sought to retaliate against their people's attack on the main lands. While Hlaðgerðr managed to save the settlement, she fell in battle.Athelstan and Gannicus lived happily for many years, raising the seven boys. However eventually Athelstan would be accused of heresy against Halone and furthermore trialed for contemplation of undermining the people. Athelstan was murdered by one of Gannicus's closest allies Flokisan, a commander of his brigade and trusted consort.As many times before, Gannicus was forced to kill a friend for their betrayal due to the execution of Athelstan being permitted without Gannicus's decree; despite Athelstan's trial before the people resulting in Athelstan's reestablished trust and loyalty. Flokisan was killed in honorable combat with Gannicus. After a time of the constant raids, wars, pillaging, and the death that surrounded Gannicus his entire life; he began to suffer from traumatic stress.
The greatest of emotional tribulations for Gannicus was the encounter with his mother during a spiritual journey that allowed him to explore the residual past that lived within the Aether of Etheirys. He'd encounter Brünhild in the Aetherial world he could not entirely explain or bring logical sense to. There he was forced to overcome his past and make peace with a mother he yearned to know. She did not pass without first challenging her son to a bout and experiencing the strong man he had become. In the end she fell to her son and before diminishing. As she ascended to the true afterlife, she told him of the name he was born with; Víðarr Hróðvitnir.She claimed to know Víðarr even after all these years because he resembled his father. Confessing that in her last moments of life, she offered her soul to Halone if the goddess would hear her prayer to save the life of her child. Víðarr's miraculous survival in the cold for a day was perhaps the workings of her bargain for her son or simple fortune. Nonetheless, she was now a fulfilled mother.In her last regards Brünhild told Víðarr where his father could be found. Not confessing how she knew but after expressing the story of his birth and betrayal, she encouraged Víðarr to find Rɑɣnˌɑr.Discovering a newfound harmony within himself, Víðarr ventured across Jötunheimr in a hunt for his father. In their encounter, his father Rɑɣnˌɑr was not ashamed and opted to redeem his failure and kill Víðarr now. Though Rɑɣnˌɑr would be easily bested as he was never a greater warrior than Brünhild and his victory over her was due to her sacrifice to save Víðarr. Without remorse but a final words with his father, Víðarr killed Rɑɣnˌɑr.He returned home shortly after to continue raising his sons. When they were of age, he'd allow his oldest to inherit the throne to their people while himself retired to the wilderness to find peace from the chaos of ruling and murder of the world. He did however continue to find solace in the arena and the occupations to protect the defenseless but no longer did he have the heart to rule over others, enduring the betrayal of loved ones and killing those he cared for.From that day forth he explored all of Etheirys even venturing to realms unknown that he himself can only speak legends of but never truly explain the adventures he experienced.Víðarr maintained his freedom and would follow many campaigns to consummate the desires of a new life, however the grievances of his past discretions would not go unnoticed by lawful authority for too long which resulted in his arrest by mercenaries who had impressively uncovered his whereabouts even after his retirement from conquest.
However when distributed to legal enforcement, Víðarr was nearly fated to die. It was later while imprisoned that Víðarr was given the bargain to remain in incarceration or enlist into the Eorzean military due to the needs of recruitment and the Garlean occupation for war. Víðarr accepted this offer and would join a knight's academy to educate him on cultural, political, and economical prospects as well as the aspects of modern political warfare.His talents for battle were recognized but as was his keen intuition for understanding the effects of warfare. This allowed him to succeed in the academy albeit not without hazing or challenges.
Near the seventh decade of his life-time, Víðarr had not only graduated the academy, enlisted into the armed forces of the Erozea but would ascend in status amongst his comrades, eventually until he would also be given the responsibility to lead men into battle for the safety and prosperity of Erozea when faced with the Garlean invasions.After the honor of being promoted to a commander, Víðarr was an prodigy for a grand future in the military, if the Eorzean people survived the war. The concluding battle took place in none other than the Mhor Dona. This battle would come to be known as the Battle of Carteneau.The battle was fierce and odds favored none. It seemed hopeless if the Eorzean alliances did not repel the Garlean threat. Yet a strange atrocity had occurred, a calamity descending onto the battlefield and the awakening of a mighty creature that brought chaos onto all beneath its reign; Bahamut.Survivors were made into ash, zealots were burned to charcoal, and suddenly when Víðarr thought himself to be the next victim of apocalyptic wrath as a blinding white light cleansed his mind and consciousness. Awaking weeks later in a shelter for the injured, Víðarr's needs were tended to until he was competent to return to the world with many questions of the battle.After so many years of conflict, Víðarr decided to retire into the exploration and study of other regions rather than merely wandering in seeking of purpose, he would create his purpose for his expedition. Expanding his wisdom and hoping to find inner-peace, enlightenment, and a better future than perpetual slavery to battle. He would take on many disciples to listen to his earned wisdom and founded a organization known as the White Lotus to help the refugees of war and provide for the needy.The White Lotus is a secret society of prominent and lower-classed advocates for aiding the survival of Eorzea's people. . .Víðarr of ninety-two years of age was a traveler, hunter, monk, gladiator, barbarian, soldier, and infinite margin of experience and cultivated journeys. A champion respected by his people and idolized by his sons. He was truly the prophesized child of his family's name for he did what none other of them could. He united his families, he honored his faith wholesomely, and gave them more opportunities to triumph in exile of the world. They knew him as a king, conqueror, friend, and brethren.Maybe not much in the greatest schemes of the world but for a nobody, Víðarr became someone to admire and remember. He had forged his destiny outside and within the legacy he inherited and the honor of a legacy he is proud to have been given. He was not limited by the merits of his past, the fate of people, or the demands of the present day. Víðarr achieved what few do, self accomplishment with a will to strive for greater feats. . .
Víðarr Hróðvitnir
(The Conquering Wolf)

Death: Víðarr knew many enemies in the years that pillaged and waged war for the sake of his people. Amongst these enemies, many proclaimed Kings desired the bane of their lands to fall in battle or suffer execution. After Víðarr's long retirement from the throne, his sons inherited the legacy of honor, courage, and the reigns of the people that Víðarr would leave behind to seek the simple life of a farmer, albeit still in practice of his culture and traditions. Later, Víðarr learns of a looming threat that could jeopardize the future of his children and the people he served tirelessly. In an honorable effort to bring an end to the legacy of violence caused by the needs of opposing Kingdoms, Víðarr sacrifices himself to one of his most announced enemies. The rivaling King accepted Víðarr's sacrifice for bond of peace between people. In imprisonment Víðarr experienced brutality, beaten ruthlessly by the King's people. His final days were to wait in the idleness of his prison cage for the time of his execution. In the last hour, he said his final words. . .
“How the little piglets would grunt if they knew how the old boar suffers."
“It gladdens me to know that Aldafaðir prepares for a feast. Soon I shall be drinking ale from curved horns. This hero that comes into Valhöll does not lament his death. I shall not enter Aldafaðir's halls with fear. There I shall wait for my sons to join me and when they do, I will bask in their tales of triumph. The Æsir will welcome me. My death comes without apology and I welcome the Valkyrja to summon me home!"
Shortly after this last words of Víðarr, the hero of his people was released into a pit of snakes where he'd lay injured in torment until death truly claimed him.Song of Víðarr Hróðvitnir -Eigi hugðak orma
at aldrlagi mínu;
verðr mjök mörgu sinni,
pats minnst varir sjálfan.
Eigi hugðak orma
at aldrlagi mínu;
verðr mjök mörgu sinni,
pats minnst varir sjálfan.
Nú munk nár af bragði
ok nær dyrum deyja.
Gnyðja mundu grísir,
ef galtar hag vissi,
mér er gnótt at grandi,
grafa inn rönum sínum,
ok harðliga hváta,
hafa mik sogit, ormar;
nú munk nár af bragði,
ok nær dyrum deyja.(COMMON TRANSLATION)"I did not look to a snake to be my bane;
things happen very often to one that one thinks of the least.
Soon now will my body die among the beasts.
The young pigs would squeal if they knew the state of the boar; of the injury done to me.
Snakes dig in my flesh, stab at me harshly, and have sucked on me;
soon now will my body die among the beasts."
